Spiritual War Fare

Have you ever watched a TV show, or a movie, where there is some kind of evil, super natural being, who casts spells, and tries to win through fear and magic? Usually I try to stay away from those kinds of “entertainment” that are super dark and creepy. (Romans 12: 1-2, Philippians 4:8)

However, I always think, that if I were in the movie, I would not try to win like the “good guy” does in the movie. The good guy always fights magic with magic. God condemns magic! (Micah 5:12, Ezekiel 13So, how would I “fight”? By rebuking the evil spirit, or “bad guy” in the name of Jesus! (Acts 16: 16-18)

But, what’s the big deal? Those are fake, just TV shows and movies, right? No. They’re not. Spiritual war fare is a very real thing. And it’s happening all the time, all around us. (2 Kings 6: 15-18)

We must watch and pray, and guard our hearts and mind with the full armor of God, daily. Because we do not fight people who practice or enjoy magic, we fight against demons, and evil spirits, working within and around those people. (Ephesians6: 10-18)

Spiritual war fare is very real, and greatly overlooked and forgotten. One strategy the devil uses against followers of Jesus is to label the magic as “entertainment”. If it’s not real, or called something else, like powers of some kind, then we are being deceived easier. They may take away the spells from their powers, the sorcery and chants from their performances, but the deeper meaning, whether brought up or not, is always there. No matter how much you sugar coat evil, it is still evil, even if it’s harder to see. Eventually we can become trapped in the evil without realizing it. But we are to be watchful, and seek God’s righteous wisdom every day. The only way to fight is to call on Jesus.
Evil spirits are powerful. They can perform great mysteries beyond human understanding. But the important thing to remember is that God is more powerful. It sounds scary, but remember, you don’t have to be afraid, because Jesus has already won the war! And He fights for you, and with you, at all times. (1 Timothy 2:5, Romans 8: 26, John 16: 33)

So, what do we do when we encounter evil, and great resistance against the good works we perform for the glory of God? We pray. We rebuke the evil in the name of Jesus, knowing that Jesus is victorious. (1 Peter 5: 8-11)

You are Loved!

I recently saw a quote that stated the following:
“You have never gone through one second of your life unloved.”

This statement is so true. But I bet that you are thinking how this can be possible.
My first thought, when I read this quote, was that everyone is loved by someone at least once, right? I would even go as far as saying that the moment someone may have stopped loving you was the moment someone else started loving you. But that is not what this quote is saying. The love that is mentioned here is not that of natural human love. You are loved by God.

Think about that. The creator of the universe, who made the stars, the sun, the moon, the earth, all the planets, comets, dust, water, plants, mountains, rocks, birds, elephants, lions, kangaroos, frogs, fish, and everything else, loves YOU! He created you. He knew you before you were born, before you were conceived in your mother’s womb. He knew where you were from, where you were going, what you were going to do before you were going to do it, whether good or bad. And He still loves you! You are His very good creation. The world wasn’t complete until He made a way for you to be in it.
God was so lonely, talking to Himself, that He decided to make a friend. He made outer-space to hold the earth, making the earth, so that we would have something to live in. Then He made us to talk to, to have a relationship with. Our longing for a companion comes from the very heart of God Himself. And He made you and me in His own image, because we are His special creation, and He loves us.
You may not know what a love like this is like. You may have been born to a teenaged mother who was at her wit’s end. You may have grown up with a distant family member who didn’t want another burden. You may have been cheated on by the person you were dating, who told you every day that they loved you. You may be wondering what is love, how can you know that love is real, how can you know that there is a God, and one that loves you. I want to tell you that what they did to you does not compare to the glory of God’s true, unconditional love for you.

God is love. Love is not God, but God is love. His very nature is to love. Without God, there is no such thing as love. If love wasn’t real, how would we know it even existed? We would not exist! How can you know God exists? Because you exist. How can you know God loves you? Because you exist.
He loved you so much He died for you. He took on human flesh, not someone else’s body, His own body. He lived a life of righteousness, and then paid the price for the bad things He knew you would do, before you were born. Then He rose back to life, because He wanted to spend time with you.
You have never gone through one second of your life unloved. And if you believe this, that God is the one who has made this statement true, then ask Him to forgive you of the bad things He knows you did, and accept Him into your heart, believing that He died for you, and is alive now. Call on the name of Jesus, and you will know that He loves you, then you can share His love, because it’s big enough for the whole world, and more.

God loves you, and He just wants you to love Him back.

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the angels and crowned him with glory and honor.
Psalms 8:1, 3-5

Welcome to 2019!

Thank you, to my faithful readers! Knowing that you read my blog is half the reason I continue to write posts for ECP. This year will be ECP’s fifth anniversary! Yay!
I have many announcements to make. This new year in 2019 has me so excited!

I now have a page on Facebook at: Elizabeth Sacks
You can get updates about my new book coming soon, and more.
I have a new website also, at: Elizabeth's Creative Corner
There you can find all sorts of fun things, like what I’m working on, and a how to write tutorial.

Of course, I will keep up with ECP. I won’t be posting a “Sunday Bible Verse” anymore, but I will continue to share Bible verses. I will continue to share what God has been teaching me, and placing on my heart to share with you. I will try to be better about keeping up with history posts, and will attempt to post short, fictional stories for your enjoyment.

You may have noticed I redesigned my Blog for the new year. You still have access to the translate tool and the follow by email option. I have now added a contact form and a most popular posts section at the bottom of the page.

I look forward to writing more things worth your reading, and seeing where God leads me, and ECP, in 2019. I pray that this blog blesses and encourages you.

Happy New Year!

I would like to start 2019 on ECP with a story. This is the story about my Passion 2019 experience.

First, I want to explain what Passion is. In 1997 a young man and his wife decided to minister to some college kids in their area. As the years went by their ministry grew, and now, 22 years later, Louie Giglio hosts a large, three-day event every year, featuring Christian music artists and speakers, all geared toward the spiritual growth of 18 to 25-years-olds in their faith in Jesus.

Passion 2019 was my second year to go. Hosted in four different locations, I had the privilege of attending the Dallas, Texas venue. I wasn’t even going to get to go, for financial reasons. But God provided a way through my church.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from God during the days of January 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. But I was looking forward to the music of Crowder, Kari Jobe, and of course Passion. I was especially looking forward to Christine Caine’s sermon. I had the chance to hear her speak a couple times before, and have grown to love her fire for the Lord. I thought God might speak through her, and my expectations were blown away!

During the first four sessions we learned that the love God has for us comes from a perfect Father in Heaven. We should run to God, letting our anchors go down in Jesus, taking our lights into the darkness, so God can make a bonfire from them. And we learned to let God heal us of our past wounds by letting Him see and touch them.

The music was incredible. We sang about God’s greatness and love, and how we were going to show the world what He has done.

On the second day, we were let out on a dinner break. My group and I went to the mall to find something to eat. I saw a woman, sitting in the mall, and I thought I should share Jesus with her. But I was terrified. I have never actually talked face-to-face about Jesus with a non-believer, let alone a complete stranger! I said no.

Upon returning to the conference I felt guilty for not following through with the calling on my heart. Then I listened to the Passion music again and felt ashamed. The very words I had been singing I didn’t mean. Then, Christine Caine took the stage, and boy, did God speak through her! She said exactly what I needed to hear.

She said that we, as believers in Jesus, need to have a faith that amazes Jesus. In the gospel of Luke, chapter 7, verses 1 through 10, there is a story about a Roman Centurion whose servant was close to death. The Centurion sent messengers to Jesus, asking Him to come and heal his servant. Jesus answered his call, but He was not allowed to come into the house. The Centurion said that he was not worthy to have Jesus come under his roof, but if He would just say the word, his servant would be healed.

Jesus marveled at the faith of the Centurion, claiming that He had not found such faith among the Israelites. He said the word, and the servant was healed.

We need to strive to have a faith that amazes Jesus. We try so hard to be amazing to the people around us. There is no power in that. We should try to amaze God instead.
God is amazing. He can do things through us that we can’t even imagine. We believe weird things, like the immaculate conception of Jesus, and His rising from the dead. If we can believe these weird things, why not believe God all the way through everything? We can’t argue our way through life, but we can believe our way. If we believe God is everything, and stop trying to prove that we’re amazing, we have less pressure on us, less pressure to perform.
Get in your prayer closet! Be a believing believer, because there are enough unbelieving believers in the world. Don’t make Jesus marvel at your unbelief (Mark 6:1-6). Be faithful.
Faith is predicated on trust. The enemy is after your trust! If you don’t trust your Heavenly Father, you don’t have faith in Him, He can’t work in and through you. You don’t need extensive knowledge and resources to share the gospel. You just need faith.
Now, a faith filled life is not an easy, pain free life. But I would rather suffer pain because of my faith.
Don’t confuse Infrastructure with Jesus. Don’t confuse other people with Jesus. Those things will disappoint. But Jesus will never disappoint, and will always take care of us.
Now, our generation today thrives on safety. “Whatever you do, make sure your safe, make sure you’re financially secure, don’t take big risks.” But God did not call us to be safe! God did not create you to be small and safe! Don’t stay in a religious box! Life is only a vapor. It does not last long. Don’t waste your vapor. Death is not the issue. Death comes to all. No one goes through life and comes out alive! The question is are you going to live the life that God has called you to live?

These are just the highlights. These were the very words that I needed to hear. God has been telling me to share the gospel with so many people, and I say no every time. Now, I knew I had to say yes. I ran to the restroom, there at the venue. to dry away the tears I had been crying. While I was trying to calm myself down, a Passion volunteer, known as Door Holders, asked me if I was okay.

I told her everything, and she asked If she could pray with me. She prayed that God would save a thousand people through me, and that she knew she was asking a small thing. Then She said that God had not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. It was a beautiful moment, and I thank God that she was there.

The next day was the last one of the event. I was sad, but not for long. Louie Giglio closed it out by saying that we are sent. We, who had attended Passion 2019, were to take what we had learned and share it with others. We are sent by God, every believer, into the darkness, right where we are, right where He is calling us to be. We just need to have faith, and bring our little lights, and God will make a bonfire from them.

I feel the fear I have had trying to crawl back into my heart, and I am working on saying no to fear and yes to faith. I will pray more, and think less. I will say yes, instead of no. God has changed me, and I want to stay that way.
